Myth 5: Metabolism slows down with age
and it's more likely to gain weight.

Fact: Remaing active and exercising matters most
at any age.
Regardless of Age, Exercise and Being Physically Active Increases Metabolism and Detours Weight Gain.
The reality is that any slow down in metabolism with age is minuscule and not a contributor to weight gain in healthy, active adults. If no effort is made to become more active and make better eating choices, the pounds add up over the years, and what actually started years back gets blamed on age.

Start increasing your metabolism now with these strategies:

o If you haven't been exercising, start with brisk walks that will get your heart rate up, several times a week.
o If you have been exercising, step it up a notch and increase the amount of moderate intensity aerobic activity by just an additional 5-minutes several times a week.
o Add strength training (weight-bearing) exercise in at least 2 times per week. This can include the use of weights, bands, or even your own body weight. Remember, building muscle helps burn more calories even while at rest.
